Stitch watch: Hardanger

I haven't been posting much recently, but I have been at work. These pictures are bits and pieces from some hardanger samplers -- the patterns are in The New Anchor Book of Hardanger Embroidery Stitches.

I'm using a mixture of left over perle thread from other projects and some skeins of Anchor multicoloured perle -- hence the slightly eccentric colour schemes in some pieces.

  1. I really like the pale green one. I think I remember once doing that stitch where you form the little square and all the stithes radiate out from that one central hole.

Thanks as ever for sharing your pretty makings!

  2. Thanks Jem. I'm working another piece right now with eyelet holes -- but this new one uses just eight spokes instead of 20 in the example pictured.

The colours are lovely, aren't they -- just a shame I ran out of that scrumptious grey-green. They were left over from the flowery pincushion project and come from a South African company called House of Embroidery. Their website is pure thread porn. But they don't make it very easy to order, sadly.

  3. Wow, your needlecraft is beautiful, Clare. Not a phrase I have ever uttered before in my life, but I mean it!
